The Biodiversity GIS unit has retired its Land-Use Decision Support (LUDS) tool. The LUDS tool allowed environmental practitioners to locate and perform a basic biodiversity assessment on a specific land parcel.
Most of the functions that were available on the LUDS tool, are currently available on the new BGIS system. Unfortunately the new system does not allow users to view their analysis in a report format or obtain a plant species list. The BGIS unit is currently working on integrating these functions into the new system.
Below are a few ways that the new BGIS online maps can be used during the orientation, contexualisation and investigation stages of an environmental assessment.
