Triglochin bulbosa subsp. tenuifolia differs from the other subspecies in having lax inflorescences with 4-15 flowers and pedicels diverging at angles of 45-90° from the inflorescence axis. From: Kocke, AV; von Mering, S; Mucina, L; Kadereit, JW. 2010. Revision of the Mediterranean and southern African Triglochin bulbosa complex (Juncaginaceae). Edinburgh J. Bot. 67(3): 353-398. The subspecies is found in sheltered, shady inland habitats on mountain slopes at altitudes below 400 m. It is restricted to coarse, sandy soils derived from granites (Archaean Cape Granite Suite). The vegetation types supporting this taxon are classified as Cape Peninsula Granite Renosterveld and Saldanha Granite Strandveld. From: Kocke, AV; von Mering, S; Mucina, L; Kadereit, JW. 2010. This subspecies is (as far as known) restricted to the lower slopes of Table Mountain on the Cape Peninsula and to the Postberg (near Langebaan, West Coast National Park).
