General notes: Hypoxis villosa L.f. sens lat. This genus requires revision. Geophyte growing in grasslands near river. A number of strap-like leaves are produced from a large, woody tuber that has yellow flesh. Leaves are coarse to the touch and are covered in numerous white coloured hairs, the remains of these leaves persist as a tuft of fibre on top of the tuber. The flowers are held on long inflorescence stalks (c. 150mm), they have tepals that are green and covered in long white hairs outside and yellow inside. 250mm high. Altitude - c. 170m.
