Morphological description

Small plants not more than 350 mm high. Bulb pyriform. Leaves linear, 130-300(500) mm long, 15-40 mm broad, margin undulate. Inflorescence 25-40 mm diam. with 30-50 compactly arranged flowers. Peduncle clavate, 60-130(230) mm long. Scape 30-70 mm long. Coma with 13-20 bracts; bracts lanceolate, 24-80 mm long, 20-35 mm diam. Pedicel 2-5 mm long. Perianth segments 6-8 mm long, 4 mm diam. Gynoecium with yellow ovary and white style just after anthesis. Capsule with transparent membranous pericarp which is often slightly inflated. From: Reyneke, WF. 1980. Differs from E. autumnalis in its much narrower leaves of 30 mm wide. Small plant, ± 0.13 m high. Leaves 130-300 mm long. Inflorescence: scape clavate; raceme 30-70 mm long, green to yellow.
