Morphological description

Planta seneeta fera fiorifera ad 17 cm altacum inflorescentia 14 cm, habitum O. monticolae exacte simulans, visadescriptaque; caulis 1 cm diam.; ortus homotini 2-4-foliati, internodioincluso; folia diu fere erecta, deinde ascendentia, firma, supra visa superneleviter angustata, obtusa vel subacuta, plana vel superne convexula,lat. visa non angustata, rarius leviter ampliata, apice oblique rotundata,lateribus convexis, carina ad Iineam reducta, 3.5-4.5 cm longa cumvagina vera 6-7 mm longa, per 6 mm decurrente, apice vaginae ad 1 cm lata, medio ad 1 cm diam.; bracteae 2-3.5 cm longae cumvagina vera 7 mm; pedunculi 8-10 mm longi, 4 mm diam.; sepalaexteriora lateraliter compressa, acute carinata, 9 mm longa, ad 4 mmdiam., interiora obtusa, anguste marginata, 7 mm longa, basi 5-6 mmlata; petala 2-3-seriata, sat laxa, inferne non vel vix angustata, obtusavel saepius subtruncata, emarginata vel 2-lobulata, pallide rosea, 8-12mm longa, 0.75-1.25 mm lata; stamina discusque ut in typo; ovariilobi dorso complanati, apicesubtruncati, e disco gradatim ad 2 mm elevati;stigmata 6-8, inter lobos profunde posita, angustissime subulate, ad5 mm longa cum cauda fere ad 2 mm longa; capsula 1 cm, expansa, manu complanata, 1.8 cm diam., a liter ut in typo. Highly succulent, dense shrub, up to 350 mm tall, 600 mm diam., with internodes of stems shorter than leaves. Leaves trigonous to terete, apiculate, basally connate, up to 500 mm long, 8 mm diam., smooth. Flowers in large persisting inflorescences, petals purplish pink, filamentous staminodes collected together. Fruit (7)8(9)-locular, closing bodies small. From: Klak, C. 2013. Aizoaceae: Ottosonderia.
