  • Ovary ovoid to oblong; ovules many; style filiform, bent sharply outwards at base, with 3 short stigmatic arms
  • Capsule ovoid or cylindrical, 3-valved, septicidally dehiscent, leathery
  • Seeds globose, bright red, fleshy
