  • Leaves simple, lower opposite, uppermost alternate, sessile
  • Capitula radiate, solitary and terminal on branches or in cymes
  • Involucre with bracts in 2 rows; bracts dimorphic; outer bracts unequal, large, foliaceous, ciliate; inner bracts smaller
  • Receptacle with ± cucullate paleae
  • Ray florets in 1 row, female; corolla golden yellow, minutely 3-lobed
  • Disc florets bisexual, fertile; corolla yellow, cylindric, narrowed below, with reflexed pubescence at base, 5-lobed
  • Anthers obtuse or minutely sagittate at base; with apical appendage
  • Cypselas obovate, oblanceolate or obconical; ray cypselas triquetrous; disc cypselas 4-angled
  • Pappus 0
  • x = 5 (7, 8 - 1 report each) (aneuploids, high polyploidy, B-chromosomes)
