  • Stamens arising from throat of corolla tube; filaments usually shorter than the lanceolate, apiculate anthers; staminodes 8, entire or somewhat dentate, lacerate or fimbriate at apex, usually pubescent
  • Ovary 8-locular; ovules with basal attachment; style slender
  • Fruit 1-few-seeded
  • Seeds with small, circular, basal scar; endosperm copious; cotyledons thin
