Description:

  • Voluble, perennial herbs, becoming woody below, thinly pubescent, glabrescent
  • Leaves pinnately 3-foliolate, petiolate, stipulate; leaflets ovate-acuminate, up to 50 mm long
  • Flowers bright purple, in short, dense racemes on peduncles longer than leaves
  • Calyx 5-lobed; lobes short and broad, ciliate
  • Corolla ± 10 mm long
  • Style channelled, bearded along its upper margin, strongly curved near base and apex in same direction, middle part gently curved in opposite direction
  • Pod falcate, ± 50 mm long
  • Seeds 4-6, blackish
  • x = 11
