Zungenblüten ca. 30, Ligula ca. 10 x 1.5 mm, hellblau. Scheibenblüten zahlreich, Krone gelb, 2.5 mm lang, Griffelanhängsel kurz dreieckig. Pappusborsten zahlreich, weiss, deutlich abstehend gezähnt, bis 2.5 mm lang, abfallend. Achänen 1.5 x 0.5 mm, obovat, schwarz, glatt, ohne Randwulst, locker mit löffelartig verbreiterten Haaren besetzt. From: Grau, HRJ. 1973. Revision der gattung Felicia (Asteraceae). Mitt. Bot. An annual, delicate herb to 45 cm tall, often profusely branched. Leaves alternate, linear, broadly sessile, to 25 × 1 mm (rarely to 1.5 mm), thickish, strongly bristly-margined, glandular, rarely glabrescent; leaves also present in upper stem parts, only slightly shorter than lower leaves. Capitula medium-sized, on peduncles to 6 cm long, bristly-glandular. Involucre ca. 3-seriate, ca. 5 mm in diameter; outer phyllaries 3 × 0.3 mm, inner 4 × 1 mm, abruptly narrowed to a narrow apex, all bristly-glandular with resin streaks. Ray florets ca. 30, ligula ca. 10 × 1.5 mm, pale blue. Disc florets numerous, corolla yellow, 2.5 mm long, style appendages short, triangular. Pappus bristles numerous, white, distinctly barbellate, to 2.5 mm long, deciduous. Achenes 1.5 × 0.5 mm, obovate, black, smooth, eciliate, sparsely covered with spoon-shaped hairs. [Translated with Google Gemini 1.5 (21/01/2025)] From: Grau, HRJ. 1973. Revision der gattung Felicia (Asteraceae). Mitt. Bot. Staatssamml. München 9: 195-705. [All rights reserved]
From: Grau, HRJ. 1973. Revision der gattung Felicia (Asteraceae). Mitt. Bot. Staatssamml. München 9: 195-705. [All rights reserved]
Filago australis, distinguished from the often-confused F. tenella by its elongate, acute basal leaves with strong, broad-based marginal bristles, spatulate achene hairs, shorter style branches (to 0.5 mm), and faintly blue ligules. The four subspecies of F. tenella, while possessing characteristic extreme forms, exhibit intergradation precluding definitive specific separation. Relationships are evident from ssp. cotuloides to ssp. pusilla to ssp. tenella to ssp. longifolia, with additional direct links between ssp. longifolia and ssp. pusilla. From: Grau, HRJ. 1973. Revision der gattung Felicia (Asteraceae). Mitt. Bot. Staatssamml. München 9: 195-705. [All rights reserved]
The type subspecies is centred on the Cape Peninsula, also occurring in Worcester and Hopefield. [Translated with Google Gemini 1.5 (21/01/2025)] From: Grau, HRJ. 1973. Revision der gattung Felicia (Asteraceae). Mitt. Bot. Staatssamml. München 9: 195-705. [All rights reserved]
