Rhizome creeping, up to 3 mm in diameter, set with lanceolate, attenuate, entire, pale brown concolorous rhizome-scales c. 4 x 0.7 mm Fronds tufted, erect to arching; stipe castaneous, longer or shorter than the lamina, the upper half sulcate ventrally, glabrous except for occasional filiform scales and set with pale brown scales basally; lamina herbaceous, broadly ovate-deltate to trullate, c. 120 x 70 mm, 3-pinnatifid, the basal pinnae largest and developed basiscopically; pinnae oblong- or ovate-deltate, acute; ultimate segments rotund to oblong-deltate, serrate-crenate, glabrous on both surfaces except for occasional scales along the costae and costules; venation free, usually apparent; rhachis and secondary rhachises castaneous, sulcate ventrally, narrowly winged, glabrous except for scattered filiform scales. Fronds caespitose, up to 6 per plant, arching, up to 210 mm long. Stipe atrocastaneous, glossy, up to 130 mm long, up to 1 mm in diam., proximally terete, flatted towards lamina base, with few hairs up to 2 mm long. Lamina ovate to deltate, up to 110 x 80 mm, with up to 4 petiolated pinna pairs. Rachis proximally atrocastaneous, green towards apex, sulcate adaxially, narrowly winged, with few pluricellular hairs. Pinnae proximal 1-3 pairs short-petiolate, petioles winged, pale to midgreen; herbaceous, inequilaterally ovate to elliptic, up to 45 x 30 mm, proximal 2 pinna pairs somewhat basiscopically developed, 1-pinnate-pinnatifid to pinnatifid, glabrous adaxially and abaxially; pinna rachis narrowly winged. Pinnules sessile, narrowly to broadly ovate, up to 19 x 9 mm; venation evident, vein branches terminate in sinuses between teeth. Sori at vein endings.
