Morphological description

Tubers sub-globose, 50-200 mm diameter. Stems slender, up to 12 m long, glabrous; young bark pale mauve, old bark mottled grey. Leaves glabrous, blade ovate to elliptic, 60-70 x 20-35 mm, upper surface glossy, dark green, margins revolute. Inflorescences glabrous. Sepals broadly triangular, glabrous. Corolla tube funnel-shaped, 2-3 mm long, glabrous; lobes ovate, 4-7 x 3-5 mm, glabrous abaxially, green flushed pale maroon towards base, adaxially green and hirsute. Corona lobes broadly obcordate, 0.5-1.0 x 2 mm, yellow-green tinged pale maroon, minutely hirsute. Anthers ± 1 mm long, angular-ovate, lower half infertile with basal callosities, upper half fertile, pollen grains 4-8-porate. Nectaries strap-shaped above pockets, erect around style. Style ±1.5 mm long; style-head broadly ovoid, ±0.5 x 1.0-1.5 mm, translators with receptacle broadly ovate, stipe shorter than receptacle, viscidium obovate. Follicles 45o divergent, narrowly ellipsoid with round and retuse apices, 65-80 x 23-25 mm, straw-coloured when ripe. Perennial, woody, twining climber; stems produced from string of fleshy tubers. Leaves with fleshy, subspherical, interpetiolar stipules with colleters, lamina ovate to elliptic, 60-70 x 20-35 mm, glabrous and glossy, veins sunken above, raised below. Inflorescences cymose, up to 10-flowered; peduncle 5-15 mm long. Corolla funnel-shaped and semi-succulent; tube 2-3 mm long; lobes ovate, 4-7 x 3-5 mm, outside glabrous, apple-green with base pale maroon, inside apple-green and with long hairs. Corona arising at corolla mouth; lobes broadly obcordate, 0.5-1.0 x 2 mm, yellow-green, tinted pale maroon, minutely hairy on outer surface. Flowering time Jan.?
