H. cymbiformis var. obtusa is closely related to H. pilifera but it may be distinguished from H. pilifera by the smooth leaves; the leaf-face is concave in the upper half and rounded in the lower part; leaf-tips are obtuse and pellucid, the pellucid part irregularly separated from the lower green. H. pilifera has leaves with toothed margins and keel and a distinct separation between the pellucid area and the lower green. From: Scott, CL. 1985. The genus Haworthia (Liliaceae): a taxonomic revision. Aloe Books, Johannesburg. [All rights reserved]
Rosette proliferous from the base, about 2.5 cm across. Leaves rather numerous, 1 up to nearly 2 cm long, 7-9 mm broad towards the tip, obovate-oblong, sub-obtuse, shortly acuminate, with a pellucid, distinct, simple end-bristle 1 mm long, a little curved inward, pale green, not grey-green, a little shining, pellucid towards the tip on both sides, face flat towards the base, convex towards the tip, back convex, obtusely and obliquely keeled towards the tip, keels nearly always smooth, margins smooth or with very few, minute, whitish teeth irregularly distributed, face with 3-6 darker longitudinal lines which are irregularly and indistinctly united and of which only about 3 reach the pellucid leaf-tip, back with a little more numerous longitudinal lines. From: Von Poellnitz, K. 1937. Six new species of Haworthia Duval. Desert Pl. Life 9: 102-103. [All rights reserved] As: Haworthia hilliana Poelln.
Leaves mostly oblong, 25 to 40 mm long, smooth; leaf-tips obtuse, pellucid in the upper half, lower half green, the pellucid area not distinctly but irregularly separated from the lower green. From: Scott, CL. 1985. The genus Haworthia (Liliaceae): a taxonomic revision. Aloe Books, Johannesburg. [All rights reserved]
