Morphological description

Compactum, cum flore 2.5 cm. altum; ramuli floriferi saepe 4-foliati; partes herbaceae pallide glauce virides, crebre punctatae, punctis prominentibus; folia demum fere patentia, apicem versus marginibus obscure undulate denticulatis vel integris, supra visa spathulata vel oblique spathulata, apicem versus depressa dilatataque ibique interdum obscure carinata, duo paris valde inaequalia, 0.7 cm. et 1.2 cm., vel ad 1.2 cm. et 2.2 cm., longa, ad 0.8-1 cm. lata, ad 4-7 mm. diam., vagina 5 mm. longa; flores subsessiles vel pedunculo culto demum ad 5 mm. longo, levi, suaveolentes, a 9 horis p.m. per noctern ad 6 horas a.m. expansi, 2 cm. diam.; receptaculum subturbinatum, lateraliter leviter compressum, 5 mm. longum, ad 5 mm. diam.; sepala 5, obtusa, superne leviter incrassata, exteriora 2 superne carinata leviterque compressa, ad 3 mm. diam., 7.5-8 mm. longa, vel intimum demum ad 8.5 mm. basi 3-4 mm. lata, 3 anguste marginata; petala 4-5-seriata acuminata, inferne vix angustata, citrina, ad 1 cm. longa 0.5 mm. lata; filamenta erecta conferta citrina, ad 7 mm longa, antheris pollineque luteis; glandulae sat inconspicuae distantes, pallide luteae; ovarium supra a glandula ad glandulam 3 mm. diam., abrupte profundeque concavum, medio vero subcomplanatum, lobis obscuris; stigmata sat gracilia superne vix angustata, subabrupte acuta, 2.5 mm. longa. Perennial, dwarf shrublet, up to 0.03 m high, forming compact mats, roots thickened. Leaves spathulate to oblique-spathulate, rough with white elevations. Flowers solitary, pale lemon-yellow. Capsules 5-locular, expanding keels parallel, valve wings broadest in centre, tapering to awns, closing bodies absent, covering membranes reduced to a ledge. From: Burgoyne, PM; Bredenkamp, CL. 2019.
