Leaves elliptic, lanceolate to elliptic-oblanceolate, 6-10(-12) x 2-5(-6) mm, acute, dorsiventrally flattened to slightly convex, glabrous except for more or less well developed cilia, erect to almost clasping around peduncle; sheath up to 1 mm long. Inflorescence spike-like with 2-3 nodes producing almost sessile part-inflorescences. Calyx: lobes triangular, sharply acute, with few cilia to glabrous. Corolla: lobes oblanceolate, bluntly acute to obtuse and each with a dorsal appendage, papillose or rough towards apex. Anthers 0.4-0.6 mm long, usually brown. Squamae oblong-cuneate, about twice as long as broad. Carpels with oblong-reniform ovaries, with slender styles about twice as long as ovaries. From: Toelken, HR. 1985. Crassulaceae. Fl. S. This variety is known only from a few localities, and although it is similar to some forms of var. setulosa, it seems significant that plants of var. deminuta flower earlier than those of var. setulosa from nearby localities. From: Toelken, HR. 1985. Crassulaceae. Fl. S. Africa 14: 1-229. [CC BY]
