Single stemmed shrub to 2.5 m, densely branched in upper half; branches sparsely covered in short, white hairs, becoming glabrous below. Leaves spreading, remaining ± equally sized and dense towards synflorescence, elliptic, 35-85 x 15-40 mm, pinnatisect with 5 to 9 lobes, lobes linear, 4-20 x 1-2 mm, margins revolute, coriaceous, mealy when young but later glabrous, green. Capitula aggregated into open, doubly compound corymbs, peduncles clearly visible, synflorescence 40-150 mm diam., peduncular bracts lanceolate to linear, 1-5 mm long. Involucre narrowly ellipsoid, constricted apically, 35 mm long, involucral bracts 8 or 9, unequal, oblong to elliptic, 2-3 x 1.0-1.5 mm long, glabrous, without scarious margins, brownish-gold. Thinly grey-felted shrub, 1-3 m tall, with slender branches densely leafy at tips. Leaves pinnatisect in upper half, 30-100 mm long, leathery, segments linear with revolute margins, glabrescent or grey-felted. Flowerheads in dense, compound corymbs, cylindrical, discoid, 1-2 mm diam., florets 3-6, yellow; involucral bracts glabrous, rather dry. Cypselas ribbed; pappus of 5 fimbriate scales fused basally. Hymenolepis crithmifolia shares glabrous capitula and open, doubly compound corymbs with H. indivisa but differs from it in the pinnatisect (vs linear) leaves and larger corymbs, usually more than 80 mm diameter. General notes: Alt. 300 m. Fynbos vegetation. Stony white sand soil on river bank. Shrub, 2 m high, branches from the base, reapeatedly to the top. Lower section of branches bare, higher up dead leaves, then green leaves, dull green due to glands. Flowers are yellow, pleasantly scented. Abundant. Olders shrubs have smaller inflorescences thatn this specimens. Common name: Pokbos, Pobos.
