Crassula capitella Thunb. subsp. sessilicymula (Mogg) Toelken
LC Indigenous Endemic

Morphological description

Perennials with somewhat woody and not tuberous base, with fibrous root, with erect stem covered with short recurved hairs. Leaves lanceolate to oblong-elliptic, 20-40(-50) x (8-)10-15(-20) mm, acute to obtuse, glabrous or with fine papillae when young, with recurved cilia. Inflorescence a spike-like thyrse with sessile dichasia, but often much branched from base so that it appears as if more than one inflorescence is produced. Calyx: lobes 2-2.5 mm long, glabrous but with recurved marginal cilia. Corolla: lobes oblong-oblanceolate, each with a denticulate dorsal appendage which is usually longer than petal apex but more or less in a dorsal position and with petal apex scarcely fleshy, erect or somewhat curved towards centre of flower. Anthers 0.6-1 mm long. Squamae oblong, 0.5-0.7 x 0.2-0.5 mm, more or less emarginate. Carpels with more or less distinct styles and small terminal stigmas. Flowering period: January-April (May). From: Toelken, HR. 1985. Crassulaceae. Fl. S. Africa 14: 1-229. [CC BY]

From: Toelken, HR. 1985. Crassulaceae. Fl. S. Africa 14: 1-229. [CC BY]
