Morphological description

Bulb 3-5 x 4-5 cm. Leaves 4-6, c. 15-38 x 4-5-10 cm, elliptic, at least the outer tapering rather abruptly to the acute tip, erect, glaucous. Scapes 30-50 cm tall, excluding the raceme, 6-8 mm diam. Bracts 18-55 x 6-12 mm, decreasing in size upwards, lanceolate-acuminate. Pedicels 25-50 mm long. Flowers c. 10-30 borne in a raceme 9-30 cm long, pale green. Perianth tube 9-15 x 6-8 mm; lobes spreading, outer 15-20(-25) x 48(-10) mm, elliptic, acute, inner 13-19(-23) x 3.5-8(-9) mm, elliptic, obtuse, all with a very small recurved apiculus. Filaments inserted in upper half of perianth tube, 8 mm long, up to 1 mm wide at base and there flattened, terete above and tapering gradually upwards. Anthers c. 4-6 mm long. Ovary 10-14 x 4-5 mm, cylindric, sessile, green; style 8-8.5 mm long, white; stigma c. 1 x 1 mm. Capsule 25-35 mm long, c. 14-15 mm broad at the base, conical, acute. Seeds c. 5 x 3 mm. Perennial geophyte, up to 0.9 m high; bulb globose, up to 50 mm in diam. Leaves 4-6, elliptic, the outer tapering to acute tip, glaucous. Inflorescence a 10-30-flowered raceme; peduncle 0.3-0.5 m long; pedicels up to 50 mm long. Flowers pale green; perianth tube up to 15 mm long, lobes spreading, outer elliptic, up to 25 mm long, inner elliptic, up to 23 mm long, all with small, recurved apiculus.
