Perennials with more or less branched fleshy stems scarcely swollen towards the base, covered with yellowish brown peeling bark or sometimes with short circular phyllopodia on young branches. Leaves linear, oblanceolate, rarely obovate, (5-)15-35(-50) x 2-10(-15) mm, cuneate, acute or obtuse, terete to somewhat grooved or dorsiventrally flattened but usually with margins curved upwards, glandular-pubescent to glabrous, usually yellowish green. Inflorescence a thyrse with 3-many monochasia, each with 2-6(-10) flowers, usually glandular-pubescent; peduncle (15-)50-100 mm long, brown; pedicels 8-25 mm long. Calyx 3-4 mm long, glandular-pubescent, usually yellowish green; lobes tri-angular, acute. Corolla glandular-pubescent outside; tube cylindrical to urn-shaped, 6-8 mm long, with fine hairs on inside and often on lobes, yellowish green, sometimes tinged brown or purplish along ridges where petals fuse; lobes 3-4.5 mm long, recurved, pale yellow.
