Morphological description

Perennials with prostrate or decumbent branches up to 80 mm long, more or less branched, sometimes with swollen tuberous root, with old leaves not deciduous. Leaves usually angular-obovate to almost rhombic, 3-5(-6) x 2-5 mm, usually abruptly tapering into bluntly acute apices, cuneate to sub-petiolate, more or less convex on both surfaces and thickest near apices, verruculose and often covered with a greyish flaking wax layer; grey-green to greyish brown. Inflorescence with one to many flowers in a terminal thyrse, often more or less fascicled. Calyx: lobes broadly triangular, 1-2 mm long, with obtuse to almost truncate apices, glabrous, slightly fleshy, grey. Corolla urceolate to almost saccate around each squama, scarcely fused, cream; lobes oblong-obovate, 2-3.5 mm long, usually with rounded apex and without dorsal appendage, recurved at apex. Hasiekos (A) Perennial, succulent herb, prostrate branches ± 0.08 m long, old leaves not deciduous, adventitious roots at nodes, root swollen. Leaves cuneate to subpetiolate, angular-obovate to rhombic, 3-5 x 2-3 mm, abruptly tapering into bluntly acute apex, thickest near apex, verruculose, covered with grey, flaking wax, grey-green. Inflorescence a terminal thyrse with one or more flowers, fascicled. Calyx fleshy, grey.
