Felicia tenella (L.) Nees subsp. longifolia (DC.) Grau
LC Indigenous Endemic

Morphological description

Subspecies longifolia, the most heterogeneous of four subspecies, is typically tall (to 30 cm), with basal, almost rosulate, linear leaves to 5 cm long, which may be virtually glabrous in slender forms, otherwise densely setose. Relatively large capitula are borne on long, largely leafless peduncles, few per rosette. Rosettes produce stolons rooting at a distance, indicating adaptation to thin soils; this habitat may also support perennial plants. Phyllaries are obtuse, rarely narrowly acute, differing from the type subspecies. Pappus to 2.5 mm long, relatively uniformly dentate; style branches to 0.5 mm long. [Translated with Google Gemini 1.5 (21/01/2025)] From: Grau, HRJ. 1973. Revision der gattung Felicia (Asteraceae). Mitt. Bot. Staatssamml. München 9: 195-705. [All rights reserved]

From: Grau, HRJ. 1973. Revision der gattung Felicia (Asteraceae). Mitt. Bot. Staatssamml. München 9: 195-705. [All rights reserved]

Distribution

From: Grau, HRJ. 1973. Revision der gattung Felicia (Asteraceae). Mitt. Bot. Staatssamml. München 9: 195-705. [All rights reserved]

The ssp. longifolia extends from the Cape Peninsula eastwards to Riversdale. [Translated with Google Gemini 1.5 (21/01/2025)] From: Grau, HRJ. 1973. Revision der gattung Felicia (Asteraceae). Mitt. Bot. Staatssamml. München 9: 195-705. [All rights reserved]
