Morphological description

Stipules membranous and not persistent, stems light brown, cylindrical to sulcate, style wine-red. Habitat

It grows on the western and south-western slopes of low hills, amongst ferruginous quartzite in full sunlight. Distribution

Subsp. zonale has a very localized distribution and is only known from the area near Steinkopf in the northern part of Namaqualand.
