Morphological description

A slenderer plant; leaves 8-10 mm long, linear; capitula rotundate, 8-10 mm wide; flowers 4-4.5 mm long; calyx-tube and ovary covered with silky, grey hairs; fruit scarcely 5 mm long, glabrate. South Africa, Western Cape, Southern edge of wetland S of Scarborough, Schusters river area. Just inside Cape Point fence, S of picnic area.

General notes: Fynbos biome. Peninsula Sandstone Fynbos vegetation. Depression, plain. Well-drained, moist/damp sandy soil. Sandstone. Full sun. No slope. No biotic effect seen. Shrub. Reseeder. Flowers yellow inside. Fruit present. Plant height 0.4 - 0.5 m. Very local - only two subpopulations - one here (±150 plants) and one 0.8 km SW along track to Duiwelsvlei (200 plants). Very specific habitat: neutral sands at edge of wetland, with Orphium & Buffalo grass.
