Annual hydrophyte 600-1200 mm high; culms spongy. Leaf blade to 300 x 10 mm, auricles short; ligule 3-10 mm long, truncate, splits when dry. Zimbabwe, Longside gravel road from Featherstone to Ngesi National Park near turnoff to Siver Star Estate.
General notes: Probably annual. Culms collected 120 -140 cm,curving, rooting from the lower nodes. Leaf - blades flat, finely pointed, mostly 35 - 45 cm long and 10 - 15mm wide. Inflorescence a panicle, narrow, curving, vermilion from the 100 - 170 mm long, straight awns. Spikelets 8 - 10 mm long and 3 - 3,5 mm wide, very scabrid, light green and brown, black tipped, ribbed. Note: This rice gave the ipression of being naturalised inthe dam nt planted.
