Stems erect. Cymes relatively many-flowered, with tertiary and often quarternary branching, forming flat-topped, corymbiform synflorescence. Calyx 12-15(-20) mm long. Distinguished from the typical form by the erect stems and closely branched, flat-topped inflorescence, with tertiary and often quarternary branching, short calyx, mostly 12-15(-20) mm long, and short, broadly ovoid capsules, 10-15 mm long with very short carpophore, 2-4 mm long. This form grades into the typical subspecies in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, between Pietermaritzburg and Vryheid. From: Manning, JC; Goldblatt, P. 2012.
