Differs from the typical form in having smaller, shorter, more rosulate milky-green leaves, shorter internodes and obscurely striatulate sheaths, greenish-yellow buds not reddish at base, straighter flowers averaging 30 mm in length, and narrower more or less unicoloured yellowish racemes. Leaves 130-220 x 9-18 mm, glaucous green, denser than in var. striatula. Flowers yel-low throughout, straight, 20-30 mm long. Flowering time (November to) December to January. Seven miles and 19 miles south of Tarkastad; hills near Cradock; in the Wolwekloof 20 miles south of Middelburg, Cape. This area is more or less north of Somerset East, and west of Cathcart and Queenstown where typical A. striatula is found.
