EN Indigenous Endemic

Morphological description

Calyx tube 4-angled, no glands on calyx lobes adaxially; anther pore half the length of theca; calyx glabrous with puberulous patches on tube alternating with angles. From: Oliver, EGH. 2000. Systematics of Ericeae (Ericaceae-Ericiodeae) species with indehiscent and partially indehiscent fruits. Contr. Bolus Herb. 19: 3-472. [All rights reserved]

Diagnostic description

This subspecies is distinguished by its 4-angled calyx tube which is distinctly glabrous except for patches of short hairs on the areas between the angles and just below the expanded lobes. From: Oliver, EGH. 2000. Systematics of Ericeae (Ericaceae-Ericiodeae) species with indehiscent and partially indehiscent fruits. Contr. Bolus Herb. 19: 3-472. [All rights reserved]

Distribution

Between the two centres of the typical subspecies, there occur two populations of a variable set of collections, one just west of Babylon's Tower, the other to the east at Shaw's Pass, in which the calyx is only shortly ciliate and subglabrous, not long ciliate and hirsute. From: Oliver, EGH. 2000. Systematics of Ericeae (Ericaceae-Ericiodeae) species with indehiscent and partially indehiscent fruits. Contr. Bolus Herb. 19: 3-472. [All rights reserved]
