Morphological description

Perennial and perhaps also annual. Fronds submerged, with the basal part near the surface of the water and the tip bent downwards, cohering 2 or 3 together, tongue-shaped and bent backwards on itself (saddle-like), 3-9 mm long, 0.8-5 mm wide, without marginal teeth. Inflorescence 1 on each frond. Flowers and fruits common, 2 per frond (flowering plants narrower than vegetative ones). Seeds ovoid, 0.41-0.45 mm long, ± 0.29 mm in diameter.
