Description :

  • Perennial herbs
  • Leaves alternate, sessile, linear, decurrent
  • Capitula radiate, solitary, sessile on branchlets and overtopped by subtending leaves
  • Involucre campanulate; bracts in 7 rows, oblong, with wide, membranous margins and ovate, membranous apex ending in awn
  • Receptacle flat, paleate; paleae flattened
  • Ray florets female; corolla yellow, minutely 3-toothed
  • Disc florets bisexual, fertile; corolla yellow; tube somewhat narrowing upwards, deeply lobed
  • Anthers long-calcarate, shortly caudate; with lanceolate, apical appendage; endothecial tissue polarised
  • Style branches with acute sweeping hairs not reaching below furcation
  • Cypselas villous
  • Pappus of bristle-like scales
