Sprawling, glabrescent subshrub sometimes to 1 m. Leaves opposite, ovate. Flowers in axillary spikes arranged in panicles, pink or white with spotted throat; bracts glandular-hairy but fringed with eglandular hairs. From: Balkwill, K. 2012. Acanthaceae: Isoglossa Oerst. I. ciliata has a fringe of long white hairs on the bracts and calyx lobes, especially towards the base. The inflorescences are compact, with the calyces at successive nodes overlapping for at least half their length. The obovate to spathulate bracts that are usually longer than 10 mm are characteristic of this species. Although the bracts of I. ovata are also longer than 10 mm, they are ovate.
